The second edition of IFTEX Nairobi flower show had all the distinct markings of an international expo and was easily the most elaborate showcasing of its kind ever seen in the region. In the floriculture world, IFTEX Nairobi joins the ranks of globally acclaimed flower shows and is now comfortably regarded as one among the three biggest and most impactful expos in this sector.
The event effectively served all segments of the East African and African floriculture chain including – breeders, propagators, growers, cargo and trade suppliers. It was an opportune platform for all parties in the local, regional and international segments to interact, do business and chart the best way forward in the industry.
During the show, growers and breeders alike got an opportunity to participate in a quality competition that sought to determine who amongst them excelled in creating presentations that effortlessly brought out the floral beauty of their various cut-flower varieties. The competition was overseen by a jury of 4 seasoned experts in the industry headed by Gerard de Wagt, a well known leading professional juror of international quality competitions.
Speaking exclusively to Flowerweb.Com, the Head juror Gerard pointed out that the quality competitions were often a clear reflection of organizational and operational standards one would find at the various farms and breeding facilities.
