The annual World Floral Expo organized by Netherlands-based HPP Exhibitions will be held in San Diego, California, early March next year.
Jasper van Dijk, Marketing Manager at HPP Exhibitions, confirmed this to HortiBiz.
Previous editions of the World Floral Expo took place in Miami and New York. This year the event was held in Rosemont, near Chicago, in America’s agricultural heartland from March 26 to 28.
The World Floral Expo attracted growers from more than 10 different countries, including major suppliers as Ecuador and Colombia and the Netherlands, and was attended by some of the largest wholesale and retail companies from the US and Canada.
According to Van Dijk, about 25% of the sector’s purchasing power attended. This was reflected by some of the attending growers who described the expo as “productive” and with “great attending quality”.
But despite a successful debut in the Midwest, HPP aspires to move the floral show around to connect growers to buyers in different regions in the US.
San Diego is a great location for the 2015 edition of the World Floral Expo because of the proximity of many American growers in the state of California and flower importers in the Los Angeles area, Van Dijk said.
California is America’s largest flower producing state.
