Took a ride down the Florida Turnpike to attend the latest edition of the floral show called Floriexpo.
This is my first official show of the 2023 flower exhibition season. This show is focused on the mass market and as a result the exhibitor list is who’s who of bouquet makers and suppliers, minus some big whos!
This is the smaller of the two bouquet major events. The other and much larger is the IFPA event being held in Anaheim California in October.
With that said, this show offers the opportunity for some smaller companies looking to make contacts in the supermarket business. Most of the exhibitors that I spoke with said they were pleased with the turnout and were satisfied with the results. This show, with much less competition allows buyers to spend more time at the booths they do stop at.
Supermarket shows need important buyers to show up in order to attract exhibitors and vice versa. Observant vendors know exactly which buyers are in attendance or not, and where they are in the building.
The show seems to get smaller each year but yet I would say it was successful based on the feedback and people keep showing up.
The organizers continue to add educational and networking events to help attract visitors and the ever popular design challenge and flower naming ceremony were fun. Personally I like this venue much better that Miami Beach Convention Center where it has been held for the last several years.
I was told by the organizers that they have one more year in Fort Lauderdale and then were considering skipping Florida in favor of Nashville Tenn. in 2025. Not sure if the Miami crowd will follow but maybe it is time to get on the road. Time will tell.
