Sion is taking the next step with a new shareholder Hark Orchids B.V

As of March, Hark Orchids B.V. acquires 50% of the shares of Sion BV to jointly realise the global growth ambitions of both companies. With this step, the German orchid laboratory Hark and the Dutch Phalaenopsis breeder, Sion, intensify their long-term collaboration. By joining forces, both companies can optimally respond to individual customer requirements and innovative developments in the field of breeding and propagation

    Hark and Sion joining forces

“Joining forces is a very logical step: the different specialties of the two companies complement each other perfectly and our companies have been working together for over 20 years,” said Sion owner, Eric Moor. “Hark is known for its high-quality laboratory propagation and Sion for its distinctive breeding and sales and marketing activities. By combining our skills and coordinating our processes, we can respond even better to individual customer requirements. As a result of the more intensive cooperation, we can also respond faster to market developments. Joining forces is a strategic step in further international growth and with a young generation on board, the continuity of Sion is also guaranteed.” The management of Sion continues to consist of Eric Moor and Ewout van den Dool.

    Improved solution for customers worldwide

“Hark’s participation in Sion provides our customers with numerous benefits. Both companies will continue to concentrate on their individual strengths and roles. Hark remains focused on its core activity as an independent in-vitro laboratory for breeders and young plant growers worldwide. Sion’s primary focus continues to be the breeding, cultivation and marketing of young plants and cups. And thanks to Hark’s involvement, we can offer customers a superb platform with outstanding lab quality for their genetics, supported by Sion’s global marketing and sales organisation. The extensive range means that Sion’s customers can select the most suitable assortment for themselves,” says Oliver Borrmann, Managing Director of Hark Orchideen
