After 70 years of continuous service Armellini has stopped entering Manhattan’s famous flower district. The main reason was the declining number of wholesalers left on 28th St. The once thriving floral center home to 20 plus wholesalers has slowly become home to hotels and high-rise building over the last 20 years. According to David Armellini, President of Armellini Logistics.

“ The number of wholesalers over the years has declined leading to less volume being delivered into the city, but the high cost of delivering to the city remains, due to a strict delivery window (10 PM to 3 AM) and since there are no docks, so everything has to be hand unloaded requiring us to have an unloading crew to meet each truck. “

Many of the traditional wholesalers have sold out or been priced out of this, increasingly valuable, real estate and relocated to various locations outside the city limits.  NYC has become dominated by the Korean’s who occupy the street corners and outdoor markets.
