What began as a protest against a new tax law quickly escalated into a full blown mess for the flower growers and industry.  The pandemic has, like in many places, exasperated the economic disparities in the country and now there are many demands. While the tax has been repelled the protest continue and those protesting know that blocking roads gets attention and stops commerce. Flowers need open roads and access to air and sea ports so this is really making filling orders challenging.

The logistical situation is not helping at all, as airlines are so busy elsewhere, flowers are not a priority especially when there is unrest. Add this to the driver and labor shortage that exist for the floral truckers here in the US and there will be brides that might not get exactly what they want.

With that said these situations tend to be a bit regional so some growers may not be having issues but I believe most are at some level. We will see what tomorrow and the next few days look like and try to keep you informed.

If you want to know more about why this is going on here is a link to an excellent article
