Miami Import community meets with CBP, and USDA.

There was a meeting held on April 24th were the perishable industry met with a whole contingent of USDA folks that were in town to keep the lines of communication open between government and the users.

Most in attendance were airline and representatives of cargo agents as well as Christine Bolt of AFIF.

The meeting mostly focused on how the government agencies and the industry can better manage the importation process. Without going into detail here, let me just say that, the efforts being made here make the import process much more efficient.

In particular the efforts of Christine and AFIF have really made a difference in how things get done at MIA with regards to Floral, good job.

In fact it was mentioned many times that the rest of the Country’s airports watch Miami closely because Miami is paving the way with innovative programs designed to make the flow of goods more efficient.
