The American Floral Endowment (AFE) transforms their Annual Fundraising Dinner into a Virtual Mask-erade Event

Alexandria, Virginia, July 16, 2020 (Press Release) – In light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the American Floral Endowment has transformed their Annual Fundraising Dinner into a Virtual Mask-erade throughout August. All sectors of the floriculture industry are invited to participate!

Join AFE’s Board of Trustees and industry supporters by becoming a sponsor or attendee. Register at Sponsors and attendees will receive custom masks with the Giving to Grow & AFE logo.

Then anytime in August, have a nice dinner in your home, a socially-distanced picnic in a park, outdoor seating at a local restaurant, or even a backyard barbeque. Have fun with it! Decorate your mask(s) and submit your virtual dinner photo by using the #GivingtoGrow and tag on any of AFE’s social media accounts:

    Facebook – @americanfloralendowment
    Twitter – @FloralEndowment
    Instagram – @american_floral_endowment

AFE will use these images to recognize the sponsors and supporters of this unique virtual event and create a collage post-event.

The American Floral Endowment has been serving the floral industry for 59 years with 44 years of our annual fundraising dinner and they want to continue the streak. This annual dinner is an important and vital fundraising event that helps offset administrative expenses so that more of AFE’s contributions can be used to fund research and programs to help grow the industry. The Endowment is currently funding 12 research projects and 29 annual scholarships totaling over $800,000 in research initiatives, educational grants, scholarships, and internships.

Jim Daly, AFE’s Chairman and VP of Smithers-Oasis/Floralife, stated, “During these unprecedented times, we’ve seen our industry along with so many others face new challenges. The Endowment’s work hasn’t stopped – the resources, programs, and research that your donations support are needed now more than ever.

By giving to grow, you will help the floral industry to adapt to the ever-changing world around us. We’ve all had our fill of Zoom, Skype, and conference calls – so take a break, decorate a mask, and snap a photo out in the sunshine! Thank you to our dedicated supporters for your involvement and generosity.”

Your charitable donation supports ongoing floral industry programs and is fully tax-deductible. Visit to become a sponsor or attendee.
