Here are a few highlights from the Rose Parade as seen through the eyes and words of Leanne Kesler of the Floral Design Institute. (Floraldesigninstitute.com)
“The floats are all beautiful. The challenge with “California grown” is the fact that it is January. It is very difficult to get enough of anything of one variety to make a strong statement. If you look closely at the Miracle gro float it has far more mixed varieties within a design than the others. This limitation makes it a bit more difficult for the designers. That said, they pulled off a spectacular display. Also, tropical blooms have such impact and last so much longer but, they can’t be used as no farms with enough product in California.”
