Continental Floral Greens Announces Debut of Pacific Northwest-Grown Dahlias

Continental Floral Greens is proud to introduce its debut of Dahlias grown in the Pacific Northwest. Known for their vibrant colors and intricate forms, Dahlias are beloved as one of summer’s most expressive flowers. This debut marks an important step in our mission
to bring new products to market that highlight innovation through mother nature.

Innovation in Vase Life

Working with InFlora Cut Flowers, a global leader in plant breeding, Continental Floral Greens has trialed a select series of these Dahlias. These new genetics offer a longer vaselife, giving retailers and consumers alike a longer-lasting experience. This represents a shift in making Dahlias more viable for the market, where vase life has historically been a challenge.

Exclusive Test Offering

Continental Floral Greens has planted a select mix of varieties and colors to evaluate their performance in the field, in shipping, and in consumer homes.

“As we test these new genetics, we want our partners’ feedback on color preferences, vase life, and consumer response,” said Steve DeVry, Product & Technology Development Manager at Continental Floral Greens. “Planning a Dahlia crop takes nearly a year, so the insights we gather now will be critical in shaping our next season.”

Meet Steve DeVry

Leading this innovation is Steve DeVry, Product & Technology Development Manager at Continental Floral Greens. With a lifelong background in floriculture and experience in his family’s business, Devry Greenhouses in Canada, Steve brings deep knowledge and
industry relationships to CFG’s cut flower program.

“I’m always looking for new products and new ideas that Continental can add to our offering,” said DeVry. “This dahlia project came about thanks to a long-standing relationship in the industry, and I’m excited to see it come to life. It’s not just about what you know, but who you know, and those connections allow us to bring innovative ideas forward.”

Steve also emphasized the teamwork behind the debut: “I want to give a special shoutout to Julio Mendoza and the growing team in Oregon. They’ve done an incredible job learning and growing a completely new crop, and they are the reason we’re having such success in our first year.”

For Partners & Customers

Continental Floral Greens is offering this debut Dahlia line in limited volumes to select mass market retailers and wholesale partners. Dahlias are available now into early fall this year, creating opportunities for partners to showcase the flowers during peak wedding and event season. Bouquets will be added as part of the program next season, expanding options for customers. With partner feedback and demand, we hope to expand availability into other regions in the future.

Looking Ahead

The Dahlia debut represents the start of an ongoing journey to expand and refine CFG’s floral offering. By testing exclusive new genetics and listening to partner feedback, CFG continues to focus on bringing innovative, niche products to the market – products that
surprise, delight, and inspire.

Partners interested in learning more or in joining next season’s Dahlia program are encouraged to contact Continental Floral Greens.
