Not sure where to begin with all this news that will affect the floral business.

With a 25% tariff beginning midnight tonight on most products imported from Canada and Mexico, there will be ramifications for growers, importers, wholesalers, and retailers.
Mexico supplies a large amount of floral products to the US. A 25% tariff is a lot for the distribution system to absorb, so time will tell what the real affects are. As of this writing, the US administration has delayed this tarrif for one month.
Canada supplies the US with lots and lots of potted plants and flowers like tulips, lilies, gerberas, snapdragons and other bulb crops. Once again, a 25% tariff is going to be felt across the board(er).

It appears that Colombia is not going to be hit with additional tariffs, at least for now.
It is very possible that these facts have changed by the time you are readng this.
Now I think we must wait to see who blinks first.

Valentine’s sales are strong, with most red roses sold out according to my sources, looks like it will be a good one despite all of the political saber rattling.

In other news, Dianthus Week in Bogota will be held from March 11–15, 2025.
