TPIE Fort Lauderdale 2026.
Exhibitors and buyers from all over the world come to see what is new in Foliage and plants. Of course, having to fly to Florida in January from Canada or anywhere North is not a hard job to fill. However, this year as you are reading this you likely had some bad weather this last weekend and that was on many folks’ minds as they wondered if they could depart as planned.

I believe this is the largest plant expo in the US held each year in Fort Lauderdale.
While plants where the attraction there was much talk about tariffs and the issue in Colombia regarding the 23.8% minimum wage hike that is going to have major effects on the flower industry. I don’t think I am overstating this because this increase touches everyone in the Colombian floral industry and I can imagine the Ecuador might try the same, very popular, political move.
Just to add some other complications the Colombian and Ecuadorean government are having a tiff over trade issues between the two countries. This 30% tariff on certain goods will affect floral in some ways. Growers and suppliers often move products between countries and now they might be subjected to a tax.
It has been several years since I attended this fine plant Expo. It is a pleasant contrast to the rose heavy shows that I normally attend. This is the place to be if you buy or sell plants of all sizes, shapes, colors and texture.
I do not see any way that the industry can absorb these increased costs and therefore it seems inevitable that consumers will pay the price. But how much are they willing to pay?
It’s going to be an interesting year. Lots of shows, news to write about and people to see.
